Buckingham Palace is the official London residence of Queen's and is used to receive and entertain guests in state ceremonies and official acts of the Royal Family.

State of the hotel ballroom and Gardens

19 Buckingham Palace state rooms, a ballroom and the gardens are open to the public in August and September while the Queen makes her annual visit to Balmoral.

The rooms, furnished house were some of the greatest treasures of the royal family, including paintings and the best French and English. Visit the spectacular ballroom of the Palace and a tour of the castle that dominates the west front of the palace and the lake.

There is an admission fee and tickets are limited so you must book in advance if possible.

Changing of the Guard

The change of guard ceremony takes place at the forecourt of Buckingham Palace at 11.30 clock in the summer every day, every two days in winter.

The New Guard marches to the Palace of Wellington Barracks with a Guards band passes, the old guard at a ceremony in which the guards exchanged and returned to barracks.

The ceremony lasts approximately 45 minutes and is free to see.

The Queen's Gallery

The Queen's Gallery is a permanent space dedicated to exhibitions of the Royal Collection's vast collection of art and treasures held in trust by the Queen for the nation.

Mews

The Royal Mews houses the State vehicles used by the royal family for coronations, state visits and royal weddings

The stables are home to horses in the Queen's official and ceremonial duties.

This requires a ticket for entry.
