Located near the clock tower and flea market, Old Jaffa Hostel is one of the best budget accommodation choices in Tel Aviv for its charm and uniqueness

The Old Jaffa Hostel has received very good reviews in all the leading travel guides to Israel, and for a good reason. It is not at all like the hostels in the center of Tel Aviv across the Hayarkon and Ben-Yehuda streets; it really has a character of its own.

The Hostel doesn't aim at providing fun and games for youngsters, but rather a quiet and relaxed environment for guests of all ages and tastes. The hostel is located in a renovated old Arab house in Jaffa, with arched passages, painted tile floors and high ceilings. Very different from the hustle bustle in the center.

Its only disadvantage is in being able to get around. Though there are many nice places to eat and drink in Jaffa, most places are located in the center which is a 20-30 mintues walk away. But perhaps Jaffa is all you need when visiting Tel Aviv… Florentine Neighborhood, with it's vibrant nightlife scene, Levinsky food and spices Market and simple restaurants, is only a 15 min walk away.

Single travelers, especially women, should take into account that Jaffa can become a little less pleasant at night in certain areas (taking taxis or going out with other travelers would more or less eliminate this problem). However, there are many new bars and restaurants in the hostel area, which bring life to the quiet Jaffa streets. the cleanliness of the hostel rooms is also a cause of some travelers discontentment.

Please add your comments to this review for the benefit of fellow travelers considering this accommodation - thank you!
